Happy Anniversary!

6/8/2014 -- Celebrating our 22nd anniversary!  Johnny and I went out to Minadx last Tue for our celebration and as we were driving there, we were discussing how our lives would be if we hadn't got married?  We both felt that we've been truly blessed to have each other and grow together with our children. It's been an inspiration and LONG day believe it or not and we didn't really greet each other a "Happy Anniversary" until 9:15pm.  :)  We were glad that we bought some chicken from the restaurant last night as we went out to dinner with the kids.

My day begin with an overslept.  Somehow, I had a dream and woke up around 8:34am.  My first thought was... gosh, Evan needs to bring sacrament bread to the church by 9:00am!  So, I woke him up and then Jady and chased them to get dressed.  I also told Evan to call his leaders and teachers quorum just so that someone be able to find bread whether from the freezer or else where and get them ready!  The kids were super cooperative and we were out the door by 8:43pm.  I was really mad at myself but I prayed really hard so that we could get there safely.  I also asked Evan and Jady to buckle up because I was driving at 80mph the whole time except in the nearby neighborhood at the church.  We got there at 8:50ish.  I dropped Evan at the side door, parked my car, put on a little make up and headed to the chapel.  As I walked into the walkway, Miriam just popped right next to me and we hugged and we talked, and we sat together.

Someone told me that she was there last Sat, but I didn't see her.  I thought she left right after the sacrament without talking to anyone.  During the sacrament, I suddenly realize it's not a coincident that we were late. It was meant to be that I needed to be late for her.  I prayed that she felt the spirit today as Bro. Sheltox's talk on the priesthood keys, the joy of repentance and getting rid of old, bad habit!  I just love his talk!  His analogy was a great one!  He mentioned as we kept on (a bad habit) wearing these worn out, old sole, we would eventually had pain in our feet or problems with the ankles.  It will hurt us!  My heart rejoiced for my prayer as answered!!!  After the sacrament, Miriam asked me if she needed to schedule an appointment to meet with the Bishop and I said, "Just go and catch him now!"  Off she went!  I will visit with her this Thur and will find out what will happen next.  She is so sweet, sincere and ready to come back!  Yeah for her desire and motivation!

A couple weeks ago, I felt prompted to get a gas gift card to Sara Johnsox... I didn't get a chance to talk to her since she either didn't come to church or she left right after.  I was planning to mail it out if I didn't see her this past Sunday but luckily I was able to catch up with her and gave her the card.  Her face turned red and her eyes were filled with tears.  I have never felt her pain before but this time I did even before she speaks.  She said that her days were tiring with work, school, scrape metals, cook and clean the house!  I bet she must be emotionally and financially drained for being the strongest link in the family.  I know she will be the next sister I need to reach out.  Thanks to the Lord for helping me feel her feelings so I could better serve her in the future.

Came home from church around 1pm and was preparing fruit to bring to the babacox, Michelle called and said she just woke up and needed to take a shower; so I told her to take her time and we could visit at 2:30pm.  We got there around 2:40pm and she just came out of shower.  It was a very nice visit and we stayed until 3:50... and by the time I dropped off Gina it was 4:05pm.  Johnny called me while I was driving home and he was leaving the Gilliax and taking the Jensox boys home.

I went home and found Johnny napping.  I helped Evan cleaned the last few tiles on the kitchen tile. It wasn't the best but it's good money for him to save and spend in HK.  :)

Johnny was tired from the day of work so I didn't want to wake him up until 5:45pm when it's time for dinner.  We had dinner and they left to the stake priesthood session with the Jensox boys and didn't come back until 9:15pm.  While they were gone, Jady and I made dumplings for the Greens (Martin's is having a surgery tomorrow) and Johnny (for the 3 weeks without me cooking).

When the "boys" were finally home around 9:30pm, I fixed them easy over duck eggs and they were thrilled to try them out.

Boys, it's been a good day with many awesome experience!!!  Love it!

Remembering My Child

Didn't spent much time chatting with Jeannie this week but I am so glad that she is getting along really well with her companion.  Her area is huge and so she has the car and the Elders has to ride on bikes.  On preparation day, she let the Elders use their car while Jeannie and her companion took their bikes and ride uphill for six miles.  They were tired afterwards and Jeannie had a huge pain on her leg... thank goodness that it's only one night and her pain was gone the next day.  Thanks to the Lord for answering her prayer and strengthening her testimony.  Watching her video reminds me of her riding on the bike for the first time when she was five.  We were in Lubbock and Evan was just born.  She asked for a bike and we took her to the park but then she was sacred about falling and whined and didn't want to learn anymore.  Her look and her fear on the face still vividly living in my mind.  And surprisingly, it didn't change much as I watched this video!  :)

"That night, we get to dinner and my legs start tingling. It started in my knees and went up into my thighs. And when we got home that night I literally thought I was going to die. At that point, I felt like if I cut off my legs, I'd probably be in better shape, because it hurt like. I can't even compare, but either way, it was more than anything I've ever known. And there I was, dying. And I got down and started kneeling to pray, and I said, "Heavenly Father. I know you know how much this hurts, so I hope you know how much I need help right now too." And so I prayed. And we got some painkillers too. But the next morning, I woke up and holy cow. It was as if nothing's happened. Ever. No pain. At all. And I haven't felt any since. Which really shows the power of prayer. It's never worked so quick for me, but when I needed it, there it was. How blessed we are."

5/30 (Sat)

So we were supposed to go out to eat at a Korean restaurant but we found out the last minute about the youth dance so we decided to have a potluck instead.  We bought some pizza and anchovy spread, and Martine bought in a French dessert.

The dinner was super nice and authentic.  The Howard family is so sweet and the food was covering the whole table.  There were many side dishes as well as the real dishes to wash afterwards!  :D

Dinner with good friends and spent a couple of hours chatting was a treat!!!

Project!

Since I've gained a few pounds I have been reading and watching blogs and videos of how to make a dress.  I thought of making a elastic waist dress at first but then I saw a blog with this two tone pleated skirt, so I gave it a try.

I made one for Jady first since she found this princess pattern cloth at JoAnx and I figured that a pillow case dress would be a good one for that size.  It wasn't too hard to make except the ruffles and gathers were kind of time consuming.  Then, I made mine own skirt.  I could have finished it earlier if I
didn't made the alteration.  I made it too big and had to redo it.

I probably be better off buying one at the store given with the many hours I spent on the project.  But, it's a good one after all.

Double Duty -- Darn it!

5/28 (Wed)

Got an emergency phone call from Inga last night and she is in need of help today.  I feel really bad since I could only help from 9-10am for I have a babysitting commitment with the Richards. They are to move to a new house and could use some help with their three boys.  Mia is the first one I called and she was able to go and so as Kyle.   I wrote an email to the RS about Inga's situation and I kind of regret doing it since the RS president went to Inga and gave her a lecture on  how the RS compassionate system works.  She told Inga to call her visiting teachers, Kyle and Cindy first when she needs something... and didn't she already knew that Cindy is not up for doing much with one arm and Kyle's cancer has been back while on remission?

To me this is brutal!   Oh man!  If I am not in the RS, then I wouldn't even said a word of helping others... but she is the RS president and she asked for the sisters who need ministering...

I just want Inga to feel comfortable with other sisters helping since I am about to go back to HK and I want to make sure that she is being taking care of while I am gone.  I am sure things will turn out fine in the end but I just want to make sure the RS are lining up people for her so that Kyle (Inga's visiting teacher) will not have to do much.  Kyle's cancer come back also and she will need chemo and radiation after the summer.  Oh boy!  Two of my favorite ladies in the ward are going through the same thing!  I know they can support each other at times but in my opinion it's not the best combination.  I did asked if the visiting teaching route should be switched but a few ladies at scripture study said it's not needed.  It's almost cultural shock to me.

Of course,  I also forgot that I need to help with Jady's school next Wed between 9-12... and Inga asked if I can help the same day.  I prefer helping with Inga since she needed the support and I can always asked for a switch of schedule with Jady's room parents.

Jady's Filling!

Jady has her first tooth filling today!  She was really concerned for awhile but Dr. Morgan was really sweet and nice and Jady tough it out this time!  :D  She was really cute speaking with that "fat" lips (the dentist call it) when it's numb...

So I tried on a few pants and skirts this afternoon and felt miserable that I couldn't fit into some of them!  This winter is brutal and I found myself gaining a lot of fats around my belly!!!  Reading an article on diet and health this morning and it says it takes 3500 cal to burn one pound of fat.  Now... I am thinking... how many laps do I need to walk to burn that!  Holy cow!!!!  It's so difficult to burn the extra calories when you are old!  :)

Spiritual Thoughts from Sister Kwan!

5/21 (Wed)

Spent several hours pulling weeds from the flower garden and cutting back on the thorny gooseberry plants which I planted two years ago.  How I wish to pluck them out now.  They are growing like weeds and I am careless about their fruit since the plants are so prickly!  Of course, my lower back hurts afterwards.  I am just surprised that I was able to get up from the ground.   I don't think I can garden any more.

5/22 (Thur)

We've been getting some heavy rain for the last couple of days and Johnny was so "smart" to make a trip to Bro. Huey's son's farm to pick bamboo shoots...  the wheels got all muddy and so as our shoes!  And we eventually went to a self service car wash place to get the car clean up before heading home.  It was raining so heavy on the way home.

5/23 (Fri)

Learning to make quiche with Martine.  It was so fun to hang out with Martine and Mia.  So very relaxing!  The Garcia family came over for dinner that evening and it was nice to get to know them. I just love this sweet family.  They are always prepare and ready to help!!!  Jose moves everyone in the ward and they are not afraid to help and serve!  They noticed our tree was down in the lawn as he came to pick up the mattress and stuff we gave away to the other family, and he said he would come to take care of that mess for us.  I thought he just said it but he did really come back a few days after!  So sweet and such a great example of words and deeds!

5/24 (Sat)

Went to the Veals home for a special baptism in the hot tub.  It was really cozy and nice!  Dede's mom gave a good talk on the holy spirit -- Do Not Delay A Prompting! And Dede made an closing statement to the boys that their family is eternal and they will make it back!  I love everything they said... how simple and beautiful this gospel plan is!  Eternal salvation is indeed for everyone who wants to pursue a happy life!

I was planning to call Lori but then I felt like spending some time with my family only.  It's been really tiring with service lately.  So after Evan played tennis with Thomas, we drove to Bensalam to eat at Golden Corax and catch a movie afterwards.  It's a pretty good movie since I stayed up the whole time...  may be because I was knitting in my hands.  :D

5/25 (Sun)

Stressing out on dinner with the Gillax and Rogerx for tomorrow night -- still haven't been able to finalize what I want to make for them.  Came home without Evan (he went to a court of honor with Bro. Hansex).  Jady and I ate lunch and then Johnny came home.  I went to visit teach Gloria for the first time.  Both Gloria and Gina (my companion) are new and I love them all!!!  They are so lovely and enjoyable!!!  I hope to be able to visit at a set schedule.

Johnny took Jady to home teach the Urbinax... and they are again struggling with Claudia's parents -- they both were so sick and needed home care, and the relatives were asking for money to send the parents to nursing home.  I feel so terrible for them!  There's never ending issues with the family.... How can they turn for peace??  So sad!

Made sandwiches with Evan and then went to Nathan's farewell.  It's wonderful!

Came home from the farewell and made two Torte... good that I have decided what to make for dessert for tomorrow night.

5/26 (Mon)

Didn't go to the fun run with Jady... and we went to the store to pick up the ingredients that I needed for the evening.  So stressed...  and Jady had a bleeding nose while we shopped!  :(  I felt like a terrible mother!

Food preparation and then dropped off at the Smallx for BBQ.  I seriously don't feel comfortable going because I am already stressed out!!!  Don't feel like talking when I am thinking what I should be making for dinner for our guests!

Came home around 2:40pm and managed to finish the cooking right before they came.  It's awesome and they loved the salad, the pasta and the dessert!  The kids had a great time hanging out and we had a wonderful time chatting.  These two families are one of our favorite families = in the ward.  I always feel good and comfortable talking with them!  It was an enjoyable evening.  And of course, I forgot to write to Jeannie because of all the stress and busy craziness.... but I was glad to catch her a little.  :)  She is loving her new companion and I bet the two will be awesome sisters in the area.  Love her spiritual thought for this week... (what can you do to keep those cracks tight?):

http://jeanniekwanldsmission.blogspot.com/

This week's spiritual thought is about Ether. It's like one of the craziest books in the Book of Mormon because everyone dies within pages. So then, I'm flipping through this book. Reading it, loving it. And so there's this guy called the brother of Jared. And God tells him to build a boat. And we're told at least 5 times that this thing is "tight like unto a dish." And first of all, I guess that's pretty tight, assuming these things are meant to hold water. Can't spill any. And then I read this (it's Ether 6:7)
 7 And it came to pass that when they were buried in the deep there was no water that could hurt them, their vessels being tight like unto a dish, and also they were tight like unto the ark of Noah;
And all I could think was. Wow. They had to be tight. They were fully submerged underwater. And that's kind of like us now. Regardless of whether we're aware or not, we're always going under. The waters are rough and crazy, and so is life. We are thrown in all different directions with numerous obstacles. Are we doing all the right things so that WE are "tight like unto a dish"? Because if we allow the slightest crack, then we are going to be in trouble. So my question this week is: What can you do to keep those cracks tight?

5/13 (Tue) - 5/20 (Tue)

5/13 (Tue)
Nothing much to be done that day only stayed home and reupholster the dining chair cover.  Only had two done and two more to go.

5/14 (Wed)
Visited Miriam with Wendy M.  She cried as we talked about her life and the atonement.  The bishop had counseled with her that she needed to get married and stayed out of the situation.  He had asked her not to partake the sacrament.  She understood why but at the same time she felt like there's no way for her to go back.  Poor thing.... I told her that the Bishop is the one who represents the Lord and he's able to get the revelations for the ward members.  Miriam agreed since the relationship didn't turn out and she felt trapped now.

We all have our weakness... but I know if we poured our heart out to the Lord, He will help us overcome it.  The atonement is there for us to partake and to make it right again if we repent sincerely.

5/15 (Thur)
Went to help Sylvia V. to switch her closet.  This poor sister has severe pain and inflammatory issue all over her body: bone, muscle and blood.  I literally felt her pain every time I saw her with the hand/wrist support.  I know... because I am having less severe issue similar to hers on my hands, wrists and fingers but they are still manageable.  So, I just need to be very careful and adjust my daily activity.

5/16 (Fri)
Stayed at home all day until 3:30.  We got our 6 month supply of food today, so no need to buy meat for awhile.  Then Bill, the pest control guy came to spread the whole house.  He left just in time so that I could pick up Jady for violin lesson.  We headed to Rachel's G. birthday party after violin lesson.  Inga called me in the afternoon and asked if she could have a few sisters stayed with her while her daughter was out on Sat.  It was a little difficult because it's a short notice, and many sisters were to attend the Generax Auxiliarx meeting.  Yet, we got it covered the last minute.

5/17 (Sat)
Helped watch Inga from 9-11am.  She looked so tired but still in good spirit.  Thank goodness that Donna was there with me so she could stay while I leave before the nurse came.  Then Johnny and I went to the Generax Auxiliarx meeting at noon because he needed to set up.  I was there 2 hours early and I've got to work on my projects... knitting a scarf for Jeannie, reading or playing on the piano (trying to write a song for Jady's baptism).

The meeting was really good and one of the most important thing that I got from the meeting is that I should be grateful to be in this ward.  I always felt that our ward is very needy, but when I heard from the other sisters from the other wards/stakes, I can't help but be more grateful for my own.  Some sisters live in far distance... It might take 2-3 hours to drive to visit someone, so some are relying on modern technology... skypx or facetimx.  I think learning to adjust is the key.

5/18 (Sun)
Judy told the RS that we needed to set up some hours to help Inga, mon through sat.  Inga is willing to pay for the service so we would just pass along the message and provide whenever we can.  Visited Don Airx and Gladys Werkershiex at the hospital after church.  Don looks pretty good but not Gladys.  I hope she will feel better soon and that the Dr. were able to find out what causes the internal bleeding.

Came home and ate lunch and then cooked for the missionary and the Reyex Family.  I made ham and potato, carrot, something simple.  It was a good meeting and Christine suggested that Amanda and Alex's fiance might be able to help.

5/19 (Mon)
Called Kim, Inga's daughter in-law and provide her with the information.  Then headed out to meet with Evan's guidance counselor at 10:00am.  The meeting went well and I tried and dropped the level on one of Evan's classes.  At this point, I just want him to feel successful and have confidence in school.

Went to stay with Inga from 1-3.  She woke up from a phone call about her dental appointment.  She needed to get a clearance from all the Dr. before her chemo on Friday.  Since her daughter would be busy the next day, I volunteered to help.  I knew it's far beyond my ability to help but I said "yes" anyway. Somehow, I didn't really think of getting help from Evan (school would be close for tomorrow because of school board election day).  I was trying to hoke up Inga with some members who could use the money, but Inga's daughter was very clear about having someone else to care for her mother instead of getting the referral from us.  It was somewhat an unpleasant conversation, but I do respect her honesty.  And I will just let the family figure out their schedule.

Evan's foot appointment  at 3:45p.  Dr. Bernstein trimmed off all the stitches, scabs and some nails.  It looks kind of gross at first, but then it looks as good as it was before.  So grateful for

5/20 (Tue)
Inga 9:15-12:00
Evan and I took Inga to the dentist.  I suddenly realize why there is a need of a professional care.  It's not an easy task to carry the oxygen tank, making sure she is well balanced (since one of her arm was in the sling), have the strength for a spare tank and carried the wheelchair.  It's not that simple!
Lunch with kids
Forgot about Jady's appointment (I am sooooo terrible)

Oh Family... So Much Drama!

5/12 (Mon)

I spent quite some time talking to dad this morning.  I have never seen him so mad at someone that he literally yelled over the phone.  Uncle 6 was being annoying.  He wanted to change the date of uncle 7's graveyard dedication when everyone has already consented of meeting on Sunday of 6/8,  He himself rejected the date because of some superstitious ritual (Uncle 7's mom passed away two weeks ago; so according to Uncle 6, we should wait for Uncle 7's mother-in-law settled first.  It doesn't make sense to us at all... 1) Aunt 7 didn't request any delay because of her mother's passing.  2)  Uncle 7 has already been gone for 2 years and we just want him to settle in a place.  3) Uncle 6 also accused my dad of manipulating aunt 7 for her decision.  He is just miserably upset with dad.  I just worried about his health if he remains upset with everyone.  It's not a good thing!

Dad told me later on that he was also upset with my sister... she opened the red envelope she got from the funeral home and gave that $1 to my dad.  Dad asked what it is for?  And she said, "It's for you to buy stuff."  I told dad she probably didn't put too much thought to this... just want to give it to dad. But, to an elderly man... this is insulting!  Dad said she could have use that $1 to buy food since they were in line to order food.  I don't know whether it's a thoughtless act or an intention with purpose.   Right after Uncle 6's argument with dad, my sister also watsappx me privately of my dates of returning to HK and said they would wait on me for Uncle 7's dedication together.  I thought it was all out of sincere at first until I saw the post from Uncle 6.  I quickly sent her a message that it should be up to Aunt 7 since she is the wife of Uncle 7 and that we need to respect her decision.  She didn't respond afterwards.... But my thinking is, "Why you dragged me down in this situation?"

Dad felt better after we talk.  I hope he will remain calm, forgive, forget and move on.  Nothing is as important as our relationship with others.  It is in this life, and it will continue in the next life.  It's good to be in harmony with everyone so that when the time comes, we will always be at peace.

Life is suppose to be HAPPY!!!

5/6 - 5/10

5/6 (Tue)

Inga's diagnostic test came back -- it's positive.  The cancerous cells were found in her bone, lung and liver. I am terribly sad for her ending in this condition.  I so worried that she will be depressed for not being able to play her cello.  Inga's life has always been busy with rehearsals and surrounded by friends.  I am hoping to play piano or spend some time with her when she is discharged from the hospital.  So sad!  Inga told her daughter one day and said, "I have a good life!"  I am just glad that she is still so positive even she is at stage 4.

Kind of annoyed by one of the request from a person in the ward -- Me and other families helped them pack, clean and the family still asked for babysitting... like early 7:30am.  I just can't justify with people -- so much service was rendered from one family and it's kind of a thoughtless act to ask people to help babysitting early in the morning.  Didn't she know that others it's the busy hours in the morning and many moms are trying to get their children ready for school?  I have no mercy for this type of situation... so I sent an email to the presidency for a complaint.  I felt kind of mean but I also hope that people will understand this type of request will not be supported.  Please be reasonable.

5/7 (Wed)
Super busy helping set up and clean up for the daytime RS meeting, and helped with the achievement day activity.  I went to the chapel at 10:30a, came home at 2:00p, then went back to the chapel at 6:00pm and didn't come home until 8:40p.  This is getting tiring.  I can't barely carried those tables and I don't think I should do it again.  They are way too heavy for me and it's hurting my arm and fingers.

5/8 (Thur)
Another crazy day!  Prepare pound cake, fruit bowl and headed out to music study group.  I think I did okay with my performance.  The piano was really difficult to play with but according to the owner, Pat Woox said that it's built in 1800s... and her husband was an expert in Chopin's music.  She even gave me a CD he recorded when he was alive.  Incredible technique and the powerful emotions!  He truly was an amazing pianist.  Came home around 4:00 and waited for Weihax (Johnny's badminton friend) for a farewell dinner.  We supposed to meet at 6pm but someone decided to buy his car the same night so we didn't have dinner until 8:00pm.  But he is a wonderful, sweet, genuine guy!  Wish him the very best of luck with a great start in Chinx.

*** Johnny was trying to ground Evan from everything because he got a few C in his current tests.  This is not what I would do so we had an argument before we went to bed.  I reminded him that nothing good comes out from being pushy.  We eventually comprised to have Evan figure out what steps he needs to take in order to pull up his grade.  He can earn his things/privileges back when his grade improve.

5/5 (Fri)
Mia and I went to Martine's house to learn to make crepe (sweet) and galette (savory).  The food was good and we had a lot of fun hanging out!  We even took some food home for the family to taste.  It was really good!!  And next time we are going to make quiche!  Yum!!!   Took Jady to violin lesson afterward, then to her friend, Felicix for a cupcake disco ball party.  Jady had such a fun time that she kept talking about it. And I took the opportunity to take Evan out to Mesx for a mother and son date.  He was really sweet and didn't hide, or embarrassed by me as we passed by the girls from his school.  He even said "hi" to them when I was right next to him.  We talked about school... and I want him to know that he's worth every second of my love even though he didn't perform well at school.  I trusted him that he will turn out fine!  We came up with a plan that he not only study before dinner, but after dinner also.  He also got a hair cut the same night.

5/6 (Sat)
Went to dropped off all the boxes to Lori.  We took the boys to a nearby park and they were having a good time at first.  Until a gentleman showed up with the electric cars and his two boys.  The guy was so sweet that he let the other kids ride on it... and needless to say, the boys fought over their turn.  We took them home and drove to Four Seasox for dim sum.  On our way home, we went to get Evan church pants and shirts and quilts set for our bed.

5/10 (Sun)
Enjoying my mother's day!  Skype with my missionary!!!  It's just awesome and this is the last time I skype her before she comes back!  Can't wait!!!  Open the card from Jeannie, gifts from Jady, and letter and cake from Evan.  Hubby got me a Savior statues... I love them all!!!  So glad that Evan did pay attention to what I said!  :)  My heart is full and I won't ask for more!

Mother's Day Preview

So I got an email from Jeannie tonight and I was surprised to hear how much my daughter looked up to me.  I don't think I am ever a good enough mom for my children but these statements from her makes me realize that I did in fact had made an impact in my children's life.

Here's the best mother's day gift a mother would get....   love my child, Jeannie Kwan!!!

I think one of the most valuable lessons I've learned is from my mom. She's not perfect but she's always trying to help someone. And a lot of times, it probably doesn't seem like she's doing anything and she keeps at it. That's a Christlike love. These people hardly ever do anything in return for her, but she keeps doing it. Some people are just born with good hearts. And some people like me are just born with good moms.

Got a called from Karen tonight about Inga's emergency surgery.  I am a little concern since she broke her upper arm while putting a lid on a traveling mug.  The injury was as severe as she was involved in a car accident so the Dr wants to operate on her as soon as possible.
Inga has some breathing issue while at the hospital and the Dr. said there's something in her lung that they are trying to find out what it is.  Karen, her daughter is really worried and asked me to contact Bro. Small and Bishox Cook.  I know Danny is out of town and I also found out that Bishox was on a cruise.  So, I asked Johnny and Gary G. to give her a blessing before she went in for a surgery.  I prayed that the surgery will go well and that she will recover from the surgery soon, and I also prayed that her lungs will clear up -- just like my mom's after a few dozes of antibiotic.   I remembered talking to Inga awhile back ago about genealogy work and I might be able to motivate her to do it after the surgery.  Hope all is well with her and her family.

Evan's Foot Update

So Evan and I went to the podiatrist where he removed all the bandages except the stitches.  The Dr. said everything looks okay but Evan should not be running and jumping yet.  I hope he listens to the instruction since he already argued with me about the shoe he will be wearing tomorrow.  The Dr. suggested of him wearing round, big tennis shoes but most of Evan's shoes were a little pointed and tight for him.  He was mad at us after Johnny and I told him to keep his post surgery boots for another week.  We will see what happen and I hope he will not need to learn from his mistake.

4/28 - 5/4

4/28 - 4/29

Came across a quote from President Josepx Fieldinx Smith the other day as I was reading the RS assignment when he was a bishop, "Remember, everyone has weaknesses, and there are at least two sides to every story.  If you err in judgment, be sure you err on the side of love and mercy."

I just love how much wisdom the prophet has!!!  For the very first time, I truly felt I probably had judged my friend wrong.  Though I had apologized to Pinx before I still want to make sure that she is okay being friends with me.  We will probably never be the kind of friends that we used to, but just friends.  I wasn't really expecting her to response but to my surprise she responded to me twice and even sent me a video about mothers.  I can't tell how much joy I had as I received her emails and reading her whereabouts.  This is the moment that I finally feel being forgiven and that we could move on.  I remember saying my prayer to the Lord for healing the wounds on her and I.  I even told Johnny that I feel like I can die now because I am at peace with everyone.

Yes.  May I never forget this important life lesson, "If you err in judgment, be sure you err on the side of love and mercy."

Super busy and annoyed typing up all the info. for the new vt routes and working on the ward website.  I caught myself falling asleep a few times working on the records.  It's super time consuming and not necessary in my point of view since the information can be printed by the clerks.  I also hope someone will be call to monitor the ward website or else I will be overwhelmed by the emails from ward members who like to post stuff.  I could not imagine myself sitting in front of the computer uploading every single pictures of furniture!

Had a good walk with Judy as we discussed on leadership position at church... She said something that sticks in my mind, "Being leaders at the church can be very lonely."  It's hard to please everyone and not everyone is ready to help and serve... and some confidential matters can not be shared....  I felt prompted to support my RS president no matter how frustrated I was.

4/30

Busy day... Bro. Urbinx came help fix my car but to find out that the parts were for 2WD after working in the garage for 4 hours.  I felt so terrible since that's the only day off he has for the family and he didn't get the needed rest or picked up his wife after work.  We agreed to pay him for the amount that the shop will charge us (probably a little more since he would be spending more time on fixing the problem)  even though it's not our fault to order the wrong parts.

It was raining so bad  that church even got cancelled.  I still had to go because I had an appointment with the Elder to train me how to monitor the ward website, and I have promised to send them pizza.  We also had a RS presidency meeting with a few unexpected needs -- someone need help cleaning before inspection, and then organizing a funeral.

5/1 (Thur)

Super busy... leading the discussion at scripture study on priesthood.  I think the Lord do prepare people to speak as they prayed for the spirit.  I literally only had an hour to prepare the lesson because I have been spending tons on time typing the vt route and get familiarize with the ward website.  I couldn't even went back to bed after I dropped off Evan.... started cooking for Tammy's family, then the Lori O.  Danny was out of town and Tammy needed to dress up the sister at the funeral home.  She already went to help the other sister cleaned up the night before so I really feel like doing something for her.

The discussion went well -- to my benefit as always.  It went well with the reading that I am currently studying the book "Heritage".  I could feel the spirit testified to me Josepx Smith was guided and baptized by the instruction of John the Baptist.  I could feel very strong that he did in fact receive revelation of the church after being confirmed.  I am grateful for his sacrifice and faith to restore the gospel.  Only through the power of the priesthood ordinances we were able to enjoy all the blessings of eternity.  The righteous priesthood holder not only able to uplift others but also comfort and bless the sinner, the sick and the afflicted!  How cool is that?

Went to Mia to make hair bow, then off to deliver meal to Lori O... took me an hour to get there since their address won't show up on the GPS.  Got home and have Evan called on the Jensens because their mom was out of town... so, I have Evan and Johnny deliver a meal to them.

Johnny was asked to be promoted but he wanted to think about it since he doesn't like the traveling schedule just like his boss.  He and his boss will talk.

5/2 (Fri)

A good morning rest!!!  Then went to see Michelle G. helped her sweep and vacuum her apartment, then took her out to chinese buffet.  We had a great time.  She left her phone and bottom teeth at the stall in the bathroom.... that's just too funny.  I am going to shop for a waist bag for her.  :)

5/3 (Sat)

Went and played piano for the funeral at 10:30am and helped with part of the clean up.  I stayed until 2:00 but the other sisters stayed until the family was gone.  I finally knew who this sister was at the viewing.  She is a sweet, African American sister that not that many people knew about because of her chronic illness.  But, I remember getting a phone call at home that she wanted Johnny to schedule an appointment with Pre. Coxxx for the renewal of her temple recommend a few weeks before her passing.  I just am impressed with the faith she has for the gospel and our church.   While at the service, I wondered what kind of eulogy my friends and family would give me when I die.  What I want people to remember determines how I live my life now!

After the funeral, we took Evan and Jady to Goodwilx to pick up some pioneers clothing.  I think we are good for now! Came home and went to the Greens for an authentic French dinner with Howarx and Grimshax.  The food was soooooo good and we all had a great time chatting with each other.

5/4 (Sun)

We had the new route distributed and of course some sisters complained about the distance of their route and some were just upset with the new assignment.  Again, we can't please everyone.  Judy and Abby gave really good talks on the assignment was inspired that that to her it's ease her concerns of why we are to teach these sisters that we don't know or hate.  Abby also reinforced the idea that the compassionate service call system was an inspired program and it provide us a way to remember our baptismal covenant  -- to help and uplift one another.  If we all contribute even an hour or two a week, some of these sisters in the ward will never not be burned by the needy family they visited.  Charity never failed!

April 20 - April 27

4/21 (Monday)
Took Evan to the Podiatrist and he said everything looks good and that we were instructed to go back in two weeks to take everything off.  Evan still needs to wear his boot in the meanwhile which he really is not too fond of as the weather is getting warmer.  As the Dr. was changing Evan's bandages, he asked about my children because he is sending his daughter off to college this fall.  I told him that Jeannie, our oldest went to BYU and is currently serving a mission in SF.   He asked if we are Mormon and I said yes... then he carried on with a conversation about some Dr. he did the residency work with years ago are Mormons and he was really impressed with their work ethnics.  It's good to hear from other people's comment on our members who were great examples.  I hope we are keeping the standard high.  :)

4/24 (Thursday)
So, I went to scripture study today and Susan Coox lead a discussion on visiting teaching.  I thoroughly enjoyed the discussion and brought back the good memory of Rachelle Dunforx.  We just moved to Lewisville not long after we graduated, and I hardly knew anyone in the ward.  We were expecting our 3rd child but then I lost the baby after a car accident.  I was a clam and totally shut people out the door, but this visiting teaching would climb all the way to the third floor to come and take me and the kids for a check up and entertained Jeannie as I was at the Dr's office.  She was so incredible!!!  I would never forget how much I appreciated her genuine service and I kept telling her thank you.   One of the remarks she made stuck in my mind was "I bet you would do the same too!"  That statement remains in my heart for the rest of my life!

4/25 (Fri)
Dad turned 65 today!!!  Can't believe he is getting old... to me he is still the dad that I've known 20+ years ago.  I often wonder when I will be able to take care of them, and I was hoping that as we were serving at the church, we'll be able to call home to serve a mission and take care of our parents.  :(  And I doubt they wanted to give  up everything to stay with us for the rest of their life.

Had a really nice discussion with Mia today on how we learned not to judge but to take a higher road and be with those who sinned to help them feel loved.  Because of the choice of Miriam, many members or even herself feel uncomfortable being at the church.  My thoughts has always been with them -- "How could I not love them when they already felt so bad about what they did? -- in her case being pregnant without married. Michelle G. as well.... not that she doesn't believe, she is weak to break bad habits such as smoking.  How could I cast judgement on them when they are already struggling.

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter!  Wonder what Jeannie is doing at the moment!

Went to church early this morning and practice with the choir.  They sang okay... as we all knew that more rehearsals were needed but a few members insisted that they were ready to perform so they kind of ignore the pleadings from the rest of the choir members.  I hope the experience had taught them that singing in the choir is a team effort.

We came home and ate the leftover from the restaurant.  Then we watched the Lamb of God, took a nap and painted the eggs.  Together we also made lamb chop, indian bread while Jady sliced the cucumber for salad and strawberry for dessert.  It wouldn't be as special if the kids were not helping.  I wish my missionary is here for the fun evening but I am sure she is being taking care of.  After dinner, the kids did Easter egg hunt... I don't know how Evan did it but he did -- even climbing on the trampoline!  Crazy kid........  :)

Essential/Not

4/19/2014

Went out to dinner with the Greens and took a quick stop at Wawx for a smoothie.  A teenage boy with his younger brother were standing in front of me trying to pay for their sandwiches and juice bottles with a card. The cashier asked how much he has in his card because it wouldn't go through.  I wasn't aware of what's going on at first until I saw this little hand sticking inside the grocery bag taking out a bottle of juice.  The older brother tried to slid his card again and the cashier repeated the same saying.  This time, the teenager was a little frustrated because he thought there's enough money to pay for everything in his bag the second try.  The cashier shook her head and almost instantly the little hand reached to the bag and took out the last bottle of juice.

I turned around and saw this little boy might just be the same age or a little older than Jady.  My heart ache... how would I feel if they were my own children?  I quickly asked the cashier how much they owed so I could help pay the rest.  She said she wasn't able to figure out.  I didn't want to see more food being taking away from their bag for there were only two sandwiches left.  I told the cashier that I would pay for their food. The teenage boy stood there and didn't know how to react... I paid and told him to take the sandwiches with him.

I told Evan the incident this evening as we were making naan together because Johnny and I felt that he's been spending too much time on the computer looking for stuff to buy.  I told him that we don't need much to be happy or to survive.  We've been so blessed with abundance of goods while others are struggling with basic needs or just to get by.  I hope he understands the lesson here and that he would be mindful in the future with what's essential and what's not.

On The Road to Recovery (4/17, Thur)

It's been a good three days and Evan is doing so much better.  He came home the first night after the surgery and had a hard time sleeping because of his pain.  The pain is finally subsided after two days, and he is off the pain medication now.  It's kind of funny that he is actually pretty well adjusted to using his crutches, so I think he should be ready to go back to school if the Dr. say so tomorrow.  :)

Spring Break (4/15, Tue)

It was a pretty relaxing spring break.  The mammogram went well and everything is good for another year!  :D

Yeah, we made homemade pizzas (anchovie and chicken)!  I got the dough from Traders Joe and the kids did a wonderful job cutting up the ingredients and assembling them together.  Got to give them an A+ for team working!  :)

Evan's Surgery Day

Yes... the office called again at 7:45am that the surgeon would like an x-ray from Evan before the surgery.  Great!!!!  I told myself.... I am not coming back ever again to your office!

Well, anyway.  It's been a long day:

10:15 Dr.'s office for Evan's x-ray
10:30 Surgical Center (paper work and stuff)
10:45-12:15 Meeting with the surgeon, nurse, and waiting for the surgery
12:15 Operation
1:10   Dr. came out from the surgical room with all details of post surgery information.
1:30  The nurse called me at the lobby and walked me back to the pre-op. room (Evan was already awake and eating)
1:50  Evan got dressed and we went home.

Evan thought he was doing pretty well the first few hours as we went home and that we worried too much. He even argued or tried to negotiate with us about walking on the floor is not a bad idea even when the Dr. suggested of minimal activities, elevated feet about hips and ice treatment at the ankle for four days.   But as the time goes, his anesthetic started to worn out, he could feel the pain and stitches on his toe.  Bless his heart... I pray that he will recover soon.

2:00  Eat and practice piano
4:00 Cook for dinner

6:15 Left to Stake Center for Trek mom and pa meeting (It was fun and I am not too worry about it for now... except the babysitting part)

Blessings I Don't See At the Moment

April 16, 2014

There were so many things to take care of before a surgery and being the inexperienced mom of course all these unexpected, last minute calls just drove me nuts.

I called the Dr's office early in the morning and tried to make sure everything was line up with Evan's surgery. The nurse supposed to give Evan a call for the pre-surgery instruction two days ago but we didn't get any until 2:11pm after the office lady called about the change of his surgeon and time for the surgery.  I supposed to get Evan to the surgical center at 11:00am according to the letter but the surgeon wanted to squeeze Evan in at 12:00pm, so we needed to be there at 10:45am.  And since Dr. P Bernsteix was not feeling well, his brother would fill him in -- a Dr. we have never seen before!

I tried to be nice and not complained about this (I just want Evan to have the surgery done, that's it), but at the same time I was kind of upset of how disorganized it is!  What's more?  The office lady on the phone told me that the Dr. would like me to get a prescription of crutches and medication.  I thought we could get everything at one location since she called Paoli Pharmacx for crutches and Pathmarx for his pain medicine.... so, I requested her to fax the prescription (crutches) to CVX in Berwyn.  Little did I know that it's a challenge to find a local, in network medical device provider.

It was passed 3:00pm since we started calling back and forth with the prescription.  Somehow, I had an impression that the prescription was sent to CVX through the conversation with the office lady .  Since I don't have access to which stores carries the crutches, so I called the insurance for help.  The first person gave me a pharmacy in KOP but I later found out that the store didn't have any.  I was surprised and pretty desperate as I called Store #4 in Wayne but it turned out that they actually carries them at the store but it was 4:45 as I called and they close at 5:00pm.  There's no way for me to pick up the prescription at CVX and be there at Wayne on time.  Not to mention that I wasn't able to get the prescription from CVX because the Dr. never sent one to begin with.  I was beating myself up at that moment!

However, here's one of the most important lesson that I learned -- As we went back to the car, Evan said "Let's borrow the crutches from the Urbinx's".... That's right!  They had it and we could borrow from them.

The big lesson here:  Sometimes, we only see frustration along the path and not being able to vision the end of the tunnel (the blessings) ahead of us.  It's so much brighter and well planned that we could ever think of.  Why do I have to be on the phone for two hours and didn't get anything done before 5:00pm?  $45 or more was saved for those 2 hours!!!!

Super Busy Sunday

4/13/2014 (Sun)

7:30    Get ready for choir practice
12:30  Come home from church
12:45  Fix lunch and meal to the Urbinxs -- all the girls are sick
3:00    Back to church, play for Femi's baptism
4:30   Choir practice again
5:45   Come home

I wish my Sabbath for next week will not be as busy as this one.  This is crazy and I am super tired!  I have been sleeping a lot lately and still really tired -- hope I am not having any health issue!

Temple

So Johnny and I woke up at four this morning trying to get to the NY temple.  The traffic was good and we made it right on time.  As we entered into the temple, the worker asked if we drove.  He said he doesn't normally ask that question but he did this morning since he has a feeling that we have a car parking in the garage.  Then, he gave us a discounted sticker for $10 off parking fee today.  How nice!

The session was wonderful as always.  We were asked to be the witness couple.  After we were done with the session, a sealer came downstairs and recruited us to do some sealing for him.  We of course had no problem with that request since it was still early.  We did a few names and then a brother walk into the room with the slips of his uncle, aunt and grand parents. We sealed them all together.  After the sealing for the brother, I asked for a permission to get my grandparents paper and seal them as couples.  What a wonderful spiritual experience it was to be able to act on behalf of my grandmas and Johnny for my grandpas.  I love grandma Ng wai-Ching and I still missed her a lot.  Tears streaming through my eyes as I heard the blessings was pronounced.  I hope all my grand parents get a long well in the eternity.

My heart was full as I thought of the incident.  How grateful that I am for the sealer to ask us to stay.  I know the Lord will bless us and our family when we serve others.  Who in the world would think this experience will turn out to be beneficial to my own family?   Thank you, Lord!

Wed & Thur

4/9 (wed)
Kyle's has been in my thought for a few days, so I went to see her this morning.  When I was there, I found out that she's actually having an annual physical check on her cancer cell count.  What worries me was her complained about the pain on her kidney.  I hope the results will come back normal that she is in good health.  Hope the Lord gives her enough strength for recovery.

Stop by to see Mary but she's not home.  I hope she is feeling better and like the tulips that I bought her.  Left a FB message but she didn't response.  I know read the message... Sometimes, I wish I know how to read people.

Went out to lunch with Johnny.  Bro. Urbinx came to help check on the car and there is a need to replace the struts and sway bar... but interesting not the front as suggested by the guys from the shop, only the rear! Johnny and I were in shock since they guys has been talking about the problems in the front all this time.  Thank goodness that Bro. Urbinx was able to show us where the leaks are and what needs to be taking care of.  Now, we just need to order the parts and pay him to fix it.

4/10 (Thur)

Can't deny that I am getting old!  I went to help Amber and her family with packing and loading some stuff on a van, came home and slept for a good 3 hours until Jady woke me up with a kiss.  Johnny already warned me not to lift heavy boxes and objects because of my elbows.  But I did it anyway.... this is a problem.  I don't know how to say no to people.  I am such a terrible mother.  I need to spend more time serving my family. :(

Love Through Service

It was really nice to spend some time helping Michelle cleaning her apartment yesterday.  I thought about the many reasons why she is not comfortable coming to church other than being sick and in pain.  I love her dearly and I want her to understand the gospel and feel Christ's love for her, but I don't know how to approach this given with her situation.

I have many thoughts in the past as to how to reactivate her.  I think the Lord knows my desire, and through a phone conversation, I found out that she have a tough time cleaning her tub and sweeping the floor.  She is able to clean her kitchen and the rest of her house.  So, I volunteered to help!  As I finished the cleaning yesterday, Michelle and I had a really good talk.

I don't know where in the world I have this love for her.... but I do!  As I was there yesterday; I can literally feel that she is a special daughter of God.  We talked about how life should be (to be happy), we talked about her job before she became disable.  We talked about her family and health.  It was all good.  She is so loved but she might not know.  When I drove home yesterday, a few things came to my mind.

1) I thank the Lord for giving me the time and good health to serve.
2) I want to visit her every other week to help her clean or cook or just to hang out.
3) The most important  -- to share message with her about God's love for her and that she can rely on Him in any circumstances.
4)  I need to spiritually prepared myself so that I can share the message with her.

I am so glad that I wasn't born in the church because being a convert brings me a perspective on the challenges that a convert would face.  I know the Lord will help me with this endeavor!

Another Fried Chicken

This week went pretty peacefully.

Tues: The recruiter called Johnny for an initial interview and he will forward Johnny's resume to the department head.  We shall see what will happen next.  We are confident that the Lord will let us know when our time is up here in PA.

Wed: Costco... is terrible.  I called in the morning and the person told me somehow they didn't process my request (generator pick up) -- which I submitted 3 weeks ago.  Now we are back in the game and have to wait for another how many week???

Thur: Feeling a little uncomfortable with a few members in the study group and I wonder if I should stay.   The truth is rumor and gossiping do affect lives and have a negative impact on how we see others.  I heard too much lately and I need to refrain  myself from participating in those unproductive conversation.  Watch with eyes, listen with ears and feel with heart -- never forget to feel for my own experience but no other!

Friday:  Took Evan to the Dr. for a clearance for his foot surgery.  Everything is going well and we are only waiting for 4/17.  Went to the youth auction... this year is kind of interesting.  It's potluck (so the youth were luck out) and many items were put in silent auction.  So, I hope they have raised enough money for camps this year.  Don't know the reason why, but Evan decided not to go this year.  We had a great time at the auction, and Michele G. was there.  So, I was super happy to see her!

Sat: Conference was nice!  Many great talks and I love the quotes from the general authorities!!!

Then, Jady and I went to mother and daughter date at Wegmans while Evan and dad went to the Jensens for  the priesthood session.  I should have took a picture of Jady's look as I showed her the many options and food choices she could pick.  Her eyes were wild opened!  :D  She still missed her Churcx fried chicken, the restaurant that was closed for some reason.  At first, she wanted to eat at Hibichx Grill buffet and I asked why she wants fried chicken all the time... Then, Johnny jumped in and said, "because she knew how much you love fried chicken!"

Johnny told me that Jady and he had a conversation on the trampoline the other day when he asked where she wants to live?  Her response was, "somewhere that is warm.... because mama is always cold!" That statement alone just makes me cry.   She is so sweet and thoughtful and all she is thinking is about her mama!!

After dinner, we went to JoAnn and got some fabric to make hair bow. Jady and I did part of it and we just need to finish the rest.

Throughout the whole Sat.,  I also looked for bedding, mattress, furniture, dishes, kitchen utensils for a family who moved from Utah without anything.  It's another humbling experience indeed.  I struggled for two days for one of my favorite set of dishes I kept in the dining room cubicle -- hardly ever used by our family.  I questioned myself why do I even struggle if I am not going to use it or have to worry about scratches every time my family use them?  I might as well gave them away to benefit others than collecting dust here.  Why do I even bother to worry about these things as this family don't even have a bed to live on?  The spirit had taught me to be generous and giving and I have learned to sympathize with people who's circumstances is less unfortunate than I am.

Sun:  Made two meals for two sick families and then our own.  Evan insisted of making crostine.... so, here our food for the conference.  We also made fried rice but was late to a potluck dinner with the Spanish members.  Oh well... I will never make my day this busy ever again on any future conference weekend.  It's tiring and I lost the spirit quickly! After the second session, we went to help deliver the stuff to the new family with the Gracia's family.  I love this new family as well as the Gracia's!  They are truly wonderful, spiritual, and real disciples of the Lord!
